Psalm 136: A Love That Endures Forever

A Love That Endures Forever

"Give thanks to the Lord, for he is good. His love endures forever."Psalm 136:1

In life, we are used to things having an expiration date. Contracts end, trends fade, seasons change, and even human relationships sometimes come to an end. We have been conditioned to believe that all good things eventually finish. But Psalm 136 completely shatters this human logic by presenting us with God's most amazing attribute: His love has no end.

The Rhythm of Grace

If you read the entire Psalm 136, you will notice something unique: every single one of its 26 verses ends with the exact same phrase: "His love endures forever" (or "His mercy endures forever").

This constant repetition is not an accident or a lack of vocabulary by the psalmist. It was a song designed to be engraved in the hearts of the people. It reminded them that from the creation of the universe, to the liberation from slavery, through the darkest moments and the brightest miracles, the common thread was always God's unconditional love.

A Love You Cannot Exhaust

We often feel like we have exhausted God's patience. We make mistakes, stumble over the same stone, or drift away feeling like we no longer deserve to approach Him. We think: "This time I have really reached the limit of His love".

However, God's love is not based on our performance; it is based on His nature. He is love. It is an infinite ocean that you cannot empty, no matter how thirsty you are or how many times you come back to drink.

Today, no matter what season you are in, the mistakes of your past, or the doubts of your future, you can hold on to this unshakeable promise: God's love for you is forever. It never runs out, it never gives up, and it will never abandon you.
