"A wife of noble character who can find? She is worth far more than rubies." — Proverbs 31:10
When we read Proverbs 31, we often view it as an unattainable manual of perfection. It describes a woman who manages finances, cares for her family, works tirelessly, and maintains a deep spirituality. However, rather than a demanding checklist, this passage is actually a beautiful poem of praise. It is a song of gratitude designed to honor the women who hold our homes and our lives together.
A Trusting Heart
Verse 11 says, "Her husband has full confidence in her." In a world full of uncertainty and chaos, finding refuge in your life partner is one of God's greatest gifts. A good wife and mother is not perfect because she never tires or never makes mistakes. She is "virtuous" (which in the original Hebrew, chayil, also means brave and strong) because she loves with resilience, because her presence brings peace, and because her counsel is filled with God's wisdom.
Gratitude in the Everyday
Today I want to pause and give thanks. I thank God for the immeasurable blessing of having a wonderful wife; an unconditional companion on the journey of life. Through sleepless nights caring for the children, during difficult decisions, and in moments of everyday joy, her quiet strength and patient love reflect the very love of God.
Sometimes, in the daily routine, we forget to express what it means to have an exceptional mother by our side. A mother who not only feeds bodies but nourishes the soul of the family. As Proverbs 31:28 says, "Her children arise and call her blessed; her husband also, and he praises her."
Reflection
Do not take the woman God has placed by your side for granted. If you have the blessing today of sharing your life with a virtuous woman, pause for a moment. Acknowledge her effort, value her sacrifices, and tell her how much you appreciate her. She is, without a doubt, a treasure far more valuable than any precious stone.
